Removing Elements from JavaScript Arrays

https://blog.mariusschulz.com/2016/07/16/removing-elements-from-javascript-arrays

Saved by uncleflo on April 7th, 2018.

The JavaScript standard library is notoriously small. In fact, it is so small that the Array prototype doesn't even define a method for removing a specific element from an array. Because there's no such built-in method, developers have to create their own version if they want to remove a specific array element.

How to force word wrap using CSS by Kasper Tidemann

http://www.kaspertidemann.com/how-to-force-word-wrap-using-css/

Saved by uncleflo on March 28th, 2018.

On this blog, I have several code examples with a grey background like this: some fancy code. All the code examples are contained within <span> tags. But what if a span tag contains a word – say, a path to a file on a Linux server – that is longer than the width of the paragraph (the line width)? How can you force the text inside the span to word wrap? There’s a simple, very useful CSS trick you can use for this: word-wrap: break-word;.

Accessing Incoming PUT Data from PHP

https://lornajane.net/posts/2008/accessing-incoming-put-data-from-php

Saved by uncleflo on December 2nd, 2016.

Recently I started writing a REST service. I began in the usual way, writing a php script, calling it with a GET request, accessing the variables using the PHP superglobal variable $_GET. I wrote code to handle a POST request and used the variables I found in $_POST. Then I tried to write a PUT request. PHP doesn't have a built-in way to do this, and at first I was a little confused as to how I could reach this information. It turns out that this can be read from the incoming stream to PHP, php://input.

He is forever aiming to understand the oceans and in particular its coral, and temperate reefs. It was a natural progression for Caine to take up photography as part of his documenting of the state of the worlds oceans. His imagery further evolved into all aspects of travel photography as his work took him across the world to examine the status and health of reefs worldwide. He now lives in landlocked in Boulder, CO, to enjoy the mountain lifestyle, but frequently makes the journey to the sea for work, and play. As the ocean will always be his driving inspiration.

Omniture has been thrust unwillingly into the spotlight because a blogger noticed (tinyurl.com/34oxm8) that when you start up an Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) application, it tries to contact what looks like an IP address on your network: 192.168.112.2O7.net.

IF there’s a symbol for the idea that privacy is on people’s minds, it’s the Blackphone. The Blackphone, which went on sale this week for $629, is billed as the first smartphone built solely with privacy and security in mind. It is definitely more secure than your average phone, but comes with trade-offs that most consumers might not need or enjoy. It’s probably best for reporters, dissidents and companies concerned with corporate security.

Saved by uncleflo on July 17th, 2014.
