Personalize your home and really make it your own. Buy the palace you've always wanted, or build the abode of the future. Or think bigger — change the shape of the virtual world with your public attraction, virtual kingdom or megastore. Build the Eighth Wonder of the Virtual World. Buying virtual land opens up a universe of possibilities. Once you have land, you can build or purchase objects to customize it and make it a part of your Second Life home. Whether you buy a hut or create a skyscraper, your land is your own creative canvas. And it's a lot less expensive than buying a house in the real world — so you can finally have that hot tub or ocean front view you've always craved. Think of your land as your home away from home — make it look and feel just like you want it to. In Second Life, you can design and arrange every inch of your living space, and even control things like the weather and time of day. Create alone or construct together. Building in Second Life can be collaborative — invite your friends over to help design your new place, and make it a group effort. Then make furniture, art or a Ferris wheel in your backyard. There are millions of items you can buy to spruce up your home. Vendors sell everything from prefab houses to space age kitchens to Olympic-sized swimming pools. Build and buy, mix and match. There are endless possibilities.

A sense of belonging may sound like a small thing. Yet it fuels you as much as food and water because it doesn't just feed your body, it feeds your mind and soul. The stronger the sense of belonging - the stronger you become. Sure, you could look for belonging in a football team or club, but the sense of belonging you'll find in the Army - well, that's the next level. When you've trained together side by side, learnt things no classroom can teach you and fought with each other, for each other - that creates a bond like no other. A bond that lasts a lifetime.

London vies with Hong Kong and Monaco for the unenviable title of the world's most expensive city for housing. The average house price in the English capital is now nearly £600,000 ($787,000), and a study from the charity Shelter found just 43 properties affordable to people on an average income. Several of these properties were houseboats. Life on London's 100-mile network of canals, or 42-mile stretch of the River Thames, has become a popular option for beleaguered citizens, and such homes can cost as little as £20,000 ($26,500). But as more people swap apartments for houseboats, the popular, romantic vision is giving way to a harsh reality.

Michelangelo, Pietà, marble, 1498-1500 (Saint Peter's Basilica, Rome) Speakers: Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker. The Pietà was a popular subject among northern european artists. It means Pity or Compassion, and represents Mary sorrowfully contemplating the dead body of her son which she holds on her lap. This sculpture was commissioned by a French Cardinal living in Rome. Look closely and see how Michelangelo made marble seem like flesh, and look at those complicated folds of drapery. It is important here to remember how sculpture is made. It was a messy, rather loud process (which is one of the reasons that Leonardo claimed that painting was superior to sculpture!). Just like painters often mixed their own paint, Michelangelo forged many of his own tools, and often participated in the quarrying of his marble -- a dangerous job. When we look at the extraordinary representation of the human body here we remember that Michelangelo, like Leonardo before him, had dissected cadavers to understand how the body worked. - Created by Beth Harris and Steven Zucker.

A passport is an official, worldwide recognized and usable travel document in the format of a booklet issued by the relevant authority in a particular State to its nationals. One must make a distinction between a passport and an identity card which, as its name implies, is just a single card. Belgian passports are valid 7 years (5 years for minors). Any Belgian citizen can be issued his or her own passport starting at birth. It is possible to travel to around 50 countries using an identity card, but a passport allows its holder to travel to any country in the world, subject to fulfilling any applicable visa requirements.

Every day we go about our daily lives and routines... pick up a Starbucks, playfully argue with a friend, chat at the water cooler, drive home in traffic, watch the same TV shows, go to sleep. Wake up the next day and do the same thing. It's sometimes easy to forget, even after watching the news or traveling to a foreign country, that there is a lot going on in the world outside of our small bubbles of influence. Things both horrifying and beautiful, amazing and sorrowful, positive and negative.

Dads get a lot of credit. They have their own holiday, special gift baskets and the biggest serving at the dinner table. Too often, little brothers get overlooked. They don’t get anywhere near the kind of recognition they deserve, and that’s a shame. At the end of the day, while your dad might be a key figure in your life, you’ll find that the person who’s right there next to you, through thick and thin, is actually your brother.

Noah Kagan was fired as one of the first employees of Facebook and he left probably $100,000,000 behind if he had stayed. Then he was fired early on as an employee of Mint.com, which later got bought by Intuit. SO I decided to call him. I rarely leave my house so sometimes my only interactions are when I call strangers.

Samuel Mullet, the ringleader of a group behind a spate of beard- and hair-cutting attacks on members of an Amish community in Ohio, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Mullet, along with nine men and six women, were last year found guilty of assaulting dissenting members of an Amish community in Ohio in 2011. According to prosecutors, five attacks targeted Amish who defied Mullet’s authoritarian leadership of the settlement, which, like other Amish communities, strives to insulate itself from modernity.
