Lens Tests: A Simple Method

http://www.zen20934.zen.co.uk/photography/LensTests/simplemethod.htm

Saved by uncleflo on January 6th, 2019.

This is a simplified subjective method of testing lenses optical sharpness. This should not be confused with tests for focus accuracy and discrimination in a 3D environment, that is a totally different issue although often confused by the inexperienced. A focus accuracy test is suggested here Focus Test. The advantage over this method, compared to just taking a shot of a garden etc, is elimination of variables such as subject and camera movement, insufficient depth of field, flatness of field and variations in focus location. It uses a nice consistent high contrast subject to make comparisons easy; checking sharpness on general photographic views is not very easy. As the method is subjective, it is worth testing against a known good lens for comparison.

Youtube video quality and bitrate… What kind of compression does YouTube use? Every time we post a video on Youtube will ALWAYS recompressed. Youtube DO NOT leaves intact the video posted. YouTube, and a few of the other video services, also automatically deliver different video codecs to different platforms like iOS or Windows. Youtube recommends sending videos with high bitrates but after several tests I have verified that it does not change the quality beyond a certain bitrate, it is more important the quality of the source of acquisition rather than the bitrate. How much does Youtube compress video sent? How much the bitrate is allocated to video based on resolutions, youtube will assign a different bitrate to each resolution, and use 2 types of CODEC (H264 and VP9)

8 Ideas for How to Invest $5,000

https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/best-ways-to-invest-5000-dollars

Saved by uncleflo on December 28th, 2017.

When I first started to invest, I could only afford a measly $50 per month. Granted, I was in college still and living on Ramen noodles but with a part-time job at the mall and an internship at our local investment firm, I finally started to understand the importance of investing. Over time that $50 a month turned into $100 a month, then $250 a month and kept growing from there. It almost seemed surreal when it got to a point where I could invest $5000 at once into one investment. It was an awesome feeling but also scary knowing how long it took me to save up that $5000. Hopefully you have found yourself in the same situation, trying to figure out what to do with $5,000 sitting in your bank account. There are several different avenues you can take, and it's important that you understand all of your options. Regardless of if you're a new investor or a seasoned pro, it's vital that you make the best decision for your money. Thanks to the internet, there are a bunch of different ways that you can put your money to work. Your investment portfolio is going to secure your financial security. Take your time, do your research and find the best place for your $5k investment. This is a great opportunity to have a lasting impact on your future or that of your family.

Saved by uncleflo on July 10th, 2017.

Digital signatures are used world wide to verify the authenticity of messages and confirm that they have not been altered in transmission. The Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) is a Digital Signature Standard for the Federal Information Processing Standard and uses public key cryptography. The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is a version of DSA using elliptic curves. In this paper, I will introduce ECDSA and discuss its key generation, signing, and verifying procedures. Then, I will compare this algorithm to the RSA digital signature algorithm and discuss its various advantages and drawbacks. Finally, I will discuss the security of ECDSA and attacks that can break it.

PHP transfer data between 2 remote servers, what is fastest way?

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8442150/php-transfer-data-between-2-remote-servers-what-is-fastest-way

Saved by uncleflo on December 2nd, 2016.

I have Server A and Server B which exchanges some data. Server A on user request pull data from Server B using simple file_get_content with some params, so server B can do all task(database etc) and return results to A which formats and show to user. Everything is in PHP. Now I am interested what is fastest way to to this? I made some test and average transfer time for average response from server B at (~0.2 sec). In that 0.2 sec, 0.1 sec. aprox. is Server B operational time (pulling data calling few databases etc) what mean that average transfer time for 50kb with is 0.1 sec. (servers are NOT in same network) Should I try with: 1.cURL insted of file_get_content ? 2.Or to try to make whole thing with sockets( I never work work with sockets in PHP but I supose that easily can be done, on that way to skip web server )? 3.or something third?

After all, these are only 1080p camera which every mobile phone has and the technology is not that expensive unless you want the branded cameras or very high end optics and sensors. All of these cameras when fitted with the cover case can go under water as well to 30m apparently.

Freedom 360 - The Original 360 GoPro Mount

http://freedom360.us/

Saved by uncleflo on September 4th, 2016.

The Freedom360 is a mount, or a frame to hold 6 GoPro Hero3 cameras in a tight, cubic geometry to film material for a fully spherical 360 x 180 video, controlled via the GoPro Wifi remote. The 6 individual videos are downloaded from the MicroSD cards, and stitched with special software into a equirectangular or dome master file. After editing and compression, the movie can be played back with special panorama players or apps, allowing the user to look in all directions, or even apply “impossible views” like a “little planet” view. Dome masters can be played back with any dome projection system. Freedom360 focuses on the hardware aspects, and we will be bundling 3rd party video stitching suites as soon as they are released.

If you haven’t experienced a 360° video yet, you’re in for a blown-mind. I recently watched this 360 degree vlog made by Casey Neistat and had such a good time exploring NYC. Even without a VR headset like the Oculus Rift or Gear VR, 360° video is super fun to watch and explore through a platform like YouTube since you can still move your camera around to see what’s “around” you. I’m convinced that this is the future. Experience it for yourself as soon as possible. Be sure to check out our list of the 10 best VR (Virtual Reality) headsets, too.

In general a file manager is a program that gives some kind of interface to the file system and that show in a graphical or textual way the files and directory, usually a file manager allow to do some standard operations such as delete, rename copy/paste and other typical operations that you can do on files. Twin-panel file managers have obligatory connected panels where action in one panel results in a reaction in the second. So for example you could move a file from the first to the second panel, or copy it. In this roundup I‘ll show you some of the most used Twin-panel file manager available on Linux, sometimes they are also called Orthodox file managers or command-based file managers and in general they have three windows (two panels and one command line window).

Saved by uncleflo on September 15th, 2013.

Marco Fioretti suggests some ways in Linux to automatically compare the contents of multiple directories in order to find missing, duplicate, or unwanted files. Many of us end up, inevitably, with so many files and folders that it is impossible to keep them under control without some specialized help. Luckily, as I'll show you in a moment, under Linux there are several, very efficient solutions to this problem. Multiple copies of many files, scattered all over the computer, waste space, create confusion, and slow down desktop indexers like DocFetcher. I have already explained how to find and remove the unwanted extra copies here.

Tutorials - FLV vs H.264 (F4V/MPEG4) - Simple Web TV | Your Own professional Video Portal, IPTV, WebTV, Video Web, Internet TV

http://www.simplewebtv.com/en_tutorials.html?doc=video_flv_vs_h264

Saved by uncleflo on May 17th, 2013.

Is a video format older than the H.264/MPEG4; it was used (and is still used) to distribute videos over the Internet through the Flash player, for this reason, it quickly became popular and turned into the standard for video distribution over the Internet. However, it is a format that in its beginning was based in a proprietary variation of the "old" H.263 (Sorenson Spark). Flash Player 8 made it possible to use a new kind of FLV, this time based on the On2 TrueMotion VP6 technology, that allowed to achieve higher quality videos at the expense of requiring more CPU power. Is the compression technology behind the MPEG4 format, this new format produces higher quality videos and smaller sized files respect to other compression technologies. It is the compression format most used today and it is the standard for distributing high definition (HD) content. But the quality has a price: in order to encode and decode H.264 videos it is required more CPU power.

Difference between MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER and MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER in AS3 | AS3 RollOver vs MouseOver | zedia flash blog

http://www.zedia.net/2008/difference-between-mouseeventroll_over-and-mouseeventmouse_over-in-as3/

Saved by uncleflo on April 1st, 2011.

This was a question that has been in my head for a long time: what is the difference between MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER and MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER. I have been using MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER for all my rollOvers up to now without really thinking about it, but I think it would be interesting to know the difference for something so basic.

If you look at the documentation that comes with Flash CS3. You will find very little help. There are no examples explaining the difference between the two. The only difference you will find there is that the MOUSE_OVER event has the bubbles property set to true and the ROLL_OVER to false. I don’t know how much that property impacts on the behavior of the event, but I am keeping event bubbling for another post (I have been postponing that post for a long time).

Where I found there was a difference between the two events is in the way they handle children of the display object you added the listener too. I have made a simple example to show this
